Remote Desktop Connection for Windows

A remote desktop client comes standard on all Windows machines.

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection.
  2. Enter the following information and click Connect:
    • Computer: rds.uct.ac.za.
    • User name: username@wf.uct.ac.za.
  3. Enter your UCT password and click OK.
  4. Select Desktop and open the software package or application you would like to use.
  5. Choose where you would like to save the file.
  6. When you've finished using the Remote Desktop Connection, click X at the top of the screen.
  7. Click OK in the dialog box that appears indicating that your remote session will be disconnected.
  8. Your remote desktop session is completed.
