Request a network point

You can access the internet and the UCT network either via the wireless network or the wired network. If you opt for the wired network, you use a network cable to connect your computer to a network point which is fixed into the wall of your office. This provides a faster connection speed than wireless.

Depending on your office layout and your needs, ICTS can either move an existing network point or install a new network point. Both types of installation come at a cost, so please ask permission from your fund holder before requesting a network point. ICTS will require their authorisation for the expenditure before proceeding with the request.

If you need... Follow these instructions
A new network point
  1. Log on to ServiceNow Customer View.
  2. Select Internet and Networking.
  3. Select Request Cabling > Network Point Installation.
  4. Fill in all the details, including where you’d like the point installed, then click Submit.
  5. Your request has been logged and a consultant will contact you.
To move an existing network point
  1. Log on to ServiceNow Customer View.
  2. Select Phone and Communications Services.
  3. Select Telephone Services > Request extension move.
  4. Fill in all the details, including where you’d like the point moved to, then click Submit.
  5. Your request has been logged and a consultant will contact you.
