Installing updates on your Apple mac computer

AppleICTS hosts an Apple Software Update Server, which helps ensure that your Apple computer is automatically kept up to date with all the latest Apple software and Mac OS X updates.

NOTE: The important thing is that you always install patches or updates when they are released.

Download the Apple Updater tool

  1. Using Safari, go to Downloads > Apple > OS Updates.
  2. Select Apple Updater and download the tool.

Configure your Mac to update

On campus (using the UCT Update Server)

  1. Double-click the Apple Updater tool (located in the folder you downloaded it to).
  2. Click Open when the warning appears.
  3. When the Apple Updater tool opens, click UCT Apple Update Server.
  4. When asked to authenticate, enter your Mac OS X username and password (local user account) and click OK.
