Use Archive Manager to back up your data in Ubuntu

UbuntuArchive Manager allows you to create, view, modify, or unpack an archive. Archive Manager only provides a graphical interface and relies on command-line utilities such as tar, gzip, and bzip2 for archive operations. The most common archive format on UNIX and Linux systems is the tar archive compressed with gzip.

This application is automatically installed as part of Ubuntu. For more information on how to use it, open Archive Manager and select Help > Contents.
