Set up Outlook on your Apple Mac

UCT Mail

  1. On your main screen, select Go > Applications.
  2. Click Microsoft Office 2011 > Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Click Tools > Accounts.
  4. Click Exchange Account and enter the following:
    • E-mail address: preferredname.surname@uct.ac.za
    • Method: Select User Name and Password
    • User name: username@wf.uct.ac.za (i.e. staff/student number)
    • Password: your network password
    • Select the Configure automatically checkbox.
    • Click Add Account.
  5. Your mailbox has successfully been created.

 

IMAP

  1. On your main screen select Go > Applications.
  2. Click Microsoft Office 2011 folder > Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Click Tools > Accounts.
  4.  Click E-mail account.
  5. In the Enter your account information dialog box:
    • E-mail address: preferredname.surname@uct.ac.za
    • Password: your network password
    • Clear the Configure automatically tick box.
    • User name: username@wf.uct.ac.za (i.e. staff/student number)
    • Type: IMAP
    • Incoming server: outlook.office365.com : 993
    • Select the Use SSL to connect (recommended) checkbox.
    • Outgoing server: smtp.office365.com : 587
    •  Select the Override default port and Use SSL to connect (recommended) checkboxes.
    • Click Add Account.
  6. Your mailbox has successfully has been created.

 

Mac Mail

  1. Open Mac Mail and select File > Add Account.
  2. Enter the following information in the Welcome to Mail dialog box and click Continue:
    • Full name: Your preferred name and surname
    • Email address: preferredname.surname@uct.ac.za
    • Password: your network password
  3.  Enter the following information in the Incoming Mail Server section:
    • Account type: Select Exchange 2007 if you are using Snow Leopard or Exchange if you're using Lion or a later version.
    • Description: Office 365
    •  Incoming Mail Server: outlook.office365.com
    •  User Name: staff/studentnumber@wf.uct.ac.za.
    • Password: your network password.
  4. Decide if you would like to use your Address Book contacts and iCal calendars by either selecting the checkboxes or leaving them empty.
    • Click Continue.
  5. Select the Take account online checkbox > click Create.
  6. Your mailbox has been successfully created.
