Install Office 365

LaptopUCT staff and postdoctoral fellows can install Office365 up to five personal computers, up to five tablets (UCT-owned and personal) as well as on up to 5 mobile phones. Students can install Office 365 on up to 5 devices (including personal computers, mobile phones and tablets)

 

Desktop computer

  1. Navigate to https://portal.office.com.

  2. Enter your preferredname.surname@uct.ac.za email address, leave the password field blank and click Sign In.
  3. Log on to the UCT Single Sign On page by entering your UCT username and password.
  4. Click Install now on the Office 365 portal page.

Note: If you are using an Apple Mac, the first time you launch an Office 2011 application, you may encounter a Get Started with Office 2011 screen. Click Sign in to an existing Office 365 subscription and log on using your preferredname.surname@uct.ac.za email address and network password.

Deactivate Office 365 on your device

If you would like to remove Office 365 from a device that you’ve previously installed it on, then you can deactivate the licence.

  1. Navigate to https://portal.office.com.
  2. Enter your preferredname.surname@uct.ac.za email address, leave the password field blank and click Sign In.
  3. Log on to the UCT Single Sign On page by entering your UCT username and password.  
  4. Click the Settings icon in the upper right corner > Office 365 settings > Software > Office.
  5. Click Deactivate next to the computer or device you want to deactivate.
